Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have to be ill to have reflexology?
Not at all. Certainly if you come for a session with a particular condition, reflexology can be beneficial. But some people just like to relax and reflexology is great for that
What happens in a treatment session?
On your first visit well start by talking about your medical history which is kept in the strictest confidence. Everything you disclose will help me to put together a treatment plan for you, should you need one. Once thats done, I will begin to work on your feet, noting problem areas. I dont tickle and I dont intend to hurt you. However, sometimes an area of the foot can be tender if there is congestion or imbalance in the corresponding part of the body. In which case I will adjust the pressure I use accordingly. For the most part, the sensation is pleasant and soothing. Usually a treatment session lasts between 30 minutes to 1 hour. A course of treatment varies in length depending on your bodys needs, which we will discuss at the first session.
How will I feel afterwards?
After the first treatment or two your body may respond in a very definite way. You may have a feeling of well-being and relaxation, or you may feel lethargic, head-achy, nauseous or tearful. This usually only lasts for a day or two at the most and drinking plenty of water after a treatment can help alleviate this. It is, however, vital information for Reflexologists, as it shows how your body is responding to treatment.
Who can benefit from reflexology?
The short answer is pretty much anyone from babies to great grannies and everyone in between. Since reflexology treats the whole person, not just symptoms, most people benefit from treatment. Amongst other things, Reflexology is suitable for back pain, fertility issues, migraine, hormonal imbalances, arthritis, stress-related conditions, sports injuries, pregnancy, disgestive disorders, menopause and sleep disorders. More and more people are using this safe, natural therapy as a way of relaxing, balancing and harmonising the body.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends entirely on you. Any course of treatments is client-centred, so your circumstances and wishes are always the first priority. Some conditions require regular weekly treatments, others do not. Whatever happens at the first session, well discuss this then.
Do I come to you?
No, I come to you. Im a mobile therapist and cover the South Holland, West Norfolk and North Cambridgeshire areas.
Im pregnant. Can I still have reflexology?
Yes. Reflexology is a safe treatment at any stage of pregnancy. However, not everyone is confident about having reflexology during their pregnancy so if you are expecting a baby, CONGRATULATIONS! Get in touch and we can discuss it. Everything you say will be treated in the strictest confidence.
